Mission:

To provide opportunities for everyone to experience, learn and perform the challenging, empowering, and creative arts of circus, in a safe and inclusive environment.

Values: Safety & Inclusivity

Host of Sparrows utilizes a social circus model to incite positive change and provide safe and inclusive programming.

Our Program:

  • Is body positive, we celebrate the body we have! Instructors work with students utilizing a variety of techniques for various learning styles, and provide modifications for successful progression for all bodies and abilities.

  • Is a progressive training program to build strength and develop skills safely to avoid injuries and accidents, with a small teacher - student ratio for personalized attention.

Our Coaches:

  • Are members of ACE/AYCO (American Circus Educators/American Youth Circus Educators). Coaches participate in continuing education in the most progressive training in circus arts, inclusivity and safety for youth and adults.

  • Are American Red Cross Certified in CPR, First Aid & AED for youth and Adults, and we are a training site for American Red Cross certifications for individuals and companies.

  • Are trained in rigging and risk management through various professionals in the circus industry from Delbert Hall, Jonathan Deull, Brett Copes, and Todd Spiering.

  • Inspect rigging and equipment daily, and participate in staged and hands-on rescue scenarios, utilizing a rescue plan designed for the space and the equipment in our repertoire.

Our Circus Rigging and Equipment:

  • Was custom manufactured to the highest standards in the circus industry and installed through a collaboration between the building structural engineer, the architect, and an industry circus rigging professional.

  • Is utilized in conjunction with consultations and services with expert rigging professionals for specialty rigging that requires modifications to a structure or arborists for tree work.

  • Coaches are trained in rigging and risk management through various professionals in the circus industry from Delbert Hall, Jonathan Deull, Brett Copes, and Todd Spiering.

  • Staff inspects rigging and equipment daily, and participate in hands on staged rescues utilizing a rescue plan designed for the space and the equipment in our repertoire.

  • All aerial and circus equipment are rated for dynamic and human loads from circus specific manufacturers and reputable suppliers.

For Outreach, Host of Sparrows:

  • Partners with nonprofits to combine resources and expand opportunities for diverse populations, all bodies and abilities.

  • Provides scholarships for adult and youth circus arts programming under the umbrella of supportive nonprofit partners.

  • Donates free performances for community events and fundraisers for nonprofit and community driven organizations to reach diverse and marginalized demographics.
